Philanthropy has played a pivotal role throughout the Royal Latin’s long and distinguished history. In recent years, we have been deeply grateful to the individuals, corporate partners and charitable trusts whose generosity made possible our 600 Campaign and the creation of the Discovery Centre and Sports Campus. Now, as we look to the future, it’s time to revive our Annual Fund, a vital source of support that has quietly underpinned the school’s progress for many years.
Our core government funding covers essential costs such as salaries, teaching resources and basic maintenance. However, despite careful financial management, it is becoming increasingly challenging to fund the ongoing improvements, enrichment activities and student support that make The Royal Latin such a happy and inspiring place to learn.
By contributing to the Annual Fund, you help us bridge the growing gap between government funding and our shared aspiration to create the best possible learning environment. Every gift, whatever the size, directly enhances the day-to-day experience of our students and sustains the excellence and spirit that define the Royal Latin.
Together, we can continue to build on our proud tradition and ensure that every student benefits from the opportunities they deserve.
The Power of Collective Giving
The success of the Annual Fund depends on participation — the more members of our community who get involved, the greater the collective impact. We’re inviting all parents and guardians to consider making a monthly contribution, spreading the cost of your donation across the year and providing the school with the security of a regular, reliable income.
We understand that every family’s circumstances are different, and we’re sincerely grateful for all donations, whatever the size. For those who are able, and in recognition of the year we celebrated our 600th anniversary, please consider a monthly donation of £20.23.
If you are a UK taxpayer, please Gift Aid your donation. As the School Fund is a Registered Charity, we can claim an additional 25% from HMRC at no extra cost to you, significantly increasing the value of your gift.
As the table opposite shows, when we come together as a community, even modest monthly contributions can have an extraordinary impact.

                        What are our priorities?
One of the greatest areas of need is to provide our students with more all-weather seating and covered areas. There is very little sheltered space for our students to go when the weather is poor (or even shade when it’s too hot!). Enabling students to be outdoors is crucial to their wellbeing so we need to build an outdoor covered space at the rear of main block so our students can go outside at break time, get fresh air and essential time away from the classroom.
The outdoor canopy The mental health and wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance and we need to provide pastoral and counselling support, provided by external practitioners.
We also have to fund the ongoing costs to the upkeep of our 3G sports pitch and facilities.

                        Ways to give
We’ve tried to offer a choice of ways you can either set up a monthly, annual or one-off donation.
If you are paid under PAYE and your company runs a Payroll Giving Scheme you may want to consider this simple, tax-efficient way to set up a regular donation. Payroll Giving allows you to make a donation directly from your salary before your income tax is deducted. The tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay.
For example if you pay the basic 20% tax rate and want to donate £10 per month, the Royal Latin will receive the full amount but only £8 will be deducted from your net pay. If you pay 40% tax and want to donate £20.23 a month, we would receive the full amount but only £12.14 will be deducted from your net pay. Please also check with your employer to see if they have a policy of matching such contributions.
Thank you.
